Bùi Văn Hóa (Chín Hoá)
1894-1958
Founding Father of TSN
Born to a prominent family in Binh Dinh, Vietnam in 1894, Master Chín Hoá was able to study martial arts from an early age, and by the age of 10, was known as a martial arts prodigy.
At only 16, his family was able to send him to China to study Shaolin Kung Fu. Chín Hoá studied Shaolin Kung Fu for over 25 years before returning back to Vietnam as a Master of Shaolin.
Upon his return to Vietnam, he found that the country was under the rule of French Colonists and martial arts were banned. Chín Hoá did as many others during that time taught his friends, family and local resistance groups martial arts. Through this, techniques were modified to fit the Vietnamese build of longer torsos and shorter legs and arms.
Once freed from the French Colonists rule, Chín Hoá and one of his disciples, moved to Saigon to begin teaching Tây Sơn Nhạn.
He taught many students in Saigon, and Tây Sơn Nhạn created many well known fighters.
In 1958, Chín Hoá passed away, leaving many students to mourn his death.
